PEACHES N’ CREAM
This image was inspired from a gift. Some collectors/friends of mine - the Haimes family, from South Carolina - sent me four dozen of the most beautiful peaches from their state. I was moved by their thoughtfulness, and immediately astounded at the power of the striking red and yellow fruit. And as well - and as my usual inclination abides - any ‘hidden meaning’, which might be derived from peering ‘through’ the image of these life-giving fruits. And not discounting the thought of the tasty possibilities therein…I.e., peach cobbler! (I executed three ‘studies’, to get the cobbler right…lucky me (or unlucky, nearly got sick), and my friends who threw their diets out the window, and vowed to make appropriate amends, in celebration of our bounty).
This painting is a celebration of both the essential beauty, and the blessing of the foods that sustain our lives. It may be considered a call back to more simpler times…when we experienced these simple beauties - and their sustaining power, in both the flesh and the spirit - in more simple ways, as we were more closely tied to the intimate production of our foods.
Given the problematic complexities of prevailing times…it might behoove the wise…to once again, seek to renew those ‘intimate ties’…and access the powers therein.
Harvest and enjoy the fruits, in whatever form…and savor and employ the power toward abundant love and prosperous life.
